Student Mobility and Impact

About the Intra-Africa Student Mobility Programme

The Intra-Africa Student Mobility Programme promotes academic exchange among African Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) within the CB4EE consortium. It supports students and trainees to study, conduct research, or gain practical experience at partner universities across the continent.

Mobility is available for Master’s and PhD students as well as for short-term traineeships. The language of instruction for all programmes is English.

Eligibility

  1. Full-time Master’s/PhD applicants must:
    • Be nationals of and resident in an African country.
    • Have graduated from, be registered at, or be admitted to an African HEI — either a member of the consortium or another African HEI.
  2. Trainees must:
    • Be nationals of and resident in an African country.
    • Be enrolled in a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD programme at a consortium member African HEI.

How to Apply

  1. Submit an Expression of Interest when the call opens.
  2. Shortlisted candidates apply directly to the host institution.
  3. After acceptance, submit your CB4EE scholarship application before the deadline.
  4. Interviews are conducted with shortlisted candidates.
  5. Selected students sign a Learning Agreement before beginning their mobility.

Financial Conditions of Scholarships

  • Monthly stipend: €1,230 (PhD) and €890 (Master’s).
  • Travel & visa: Return travel and visa costs reimbursed upon arrival.
  • Tuition fees and medical insurance: Paid directly to the host institution.
  • Special support for students with disabilities – details to follow.

Eligibility Requirements to Qualify for Scholarship

The Intra-Africa Mobility scholarship supports both degree-seeking and credit-seeking postgraduate student mobility within Africa. To qualify, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  1. Citizenship & Residency: Be a citizen and resident of an African country.
  2. Programme Admission: Have applied to and been accepted into a Master’s or PhD programme supported by the scholarship call.
  3. Academic Readiness: Be academically qualified and demonstrate strong motivation to pursue postgraduate studies in engineering education, sustainability, or energy transitions.
  4. Mobility Type: Apply for one of the following:
    1. Degree-seeking mobility: Full-time enrolment for the duration of the degree programme.
    2. Credit-seeking mobility: Short-term academic exchange (e.g., 6–12 months) for coursework or research that earns credit towards a degree at the home institution.
  5. Complete Application: Submit all required documents, including academic records, proof of English language proficiency, and a brief personal motivation statement.

Note: Scholarships are limited. Selection is based on academic merit, alignment with programme goals, and regional representation.

Support Services and Facilities

Participating universities provide arrival and integration support, visa and accommodation guidance, mentorship, and access to academic resources for mobility students.

Recognition of Studies

Credits and research conducted during mobility will be recognised by the home and host universities through signed Learning Agreements and institutional rules.
